timing

at what point do you remain positive? when do you abandon trying to turn challenges into opportunities?

every time i turn around the last few days, i get another phone call or email of bad news. it just keeps coming. someone told me once that we never get given more than we can handle, but i'm realizing that's not true.

i'm more overwhelmed than i've ever been. and i concede, finally. i fold.

Sucks. Was going to write some "rah-rah don't give up" thing but that is probably the last thing you need to hear right now.

Lay low. Pass the karmic hat to the next guy without putting anything in and just chill.

All you have to do is work on the finding a job thing and let the rest of the world take care of their own crap for a while.

Pure bullshit, if you ask me. This implies that there is some benevolent omnipresence watching over us all. If that's true, it does piss poor job of it most of the time.

On the other hand, you've got friends and family and have just hit a rough patch around the holidays, which can be mildly depressing to people who have it all going for them.

My advice? Chin up, keep plugging, persevere, and take any reasonable job you can get your hands on.

Heck, I just went from "Director of Creativity" at a magazine to minimum wage, part-time neophyte baker at a grocery store. I don't like it but it's a start. Three more jobs just like it and I might make it.

Humility ofttimes begets survival.

Good luck - don't give up - we're pulling for you.
