a few things, all unrelated

the good: this day is starting off better than any of the last five days. while this is good news, it isn't that much of a feat considering..

the bad: i am slowly learning that you can destroy nearly anything if you think about it too much.

the awful: phish is reuniting.

the encouraging: a friend was having a business meeting with an older, wealthy man discussing planning for his estate. this man's explanation for the longevity of his wonderful marriage was that he and his wife love to talk to one another.

the reality: i am in control of nothing. and if everyone comes to me when they need something, who the hell am i supposed to go to?

ok, i can totally relate to the who am I supposed to go to when I need something if everyone always comes to me....
That's totally my role in life in the big apple. I have no one to go to either, so I guess you can come to me and I will go to you? Sound fair!

Everyone comes to you for a reason. So maybe when you need someone to turn to, the answer is to trust the answer inside of you and not question so much.

If you figure out how to do it, then please tell me. I'm trying to figure this out too!

Favorite relationship quote ever:

"Sexiness wears thin after a while, and beauty fades. But to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that's a real treat."
- Joanne Woodward

Never met either Paul Newman or Joanne but I always got the impression they genuinely got a kick out of each others company.

Always amazes me the number of couples you meet who seem to be irritated by, inconvenienced by, or just not that attached to each other.

If you don't smile when you think of your partner, WTF are you doing?

(Of course it can't be ALL THE TIME. The wife still makes me nuts about 8% of the time.)
